  • Lunar Bowl in Blue Springs will go smoke free in June.
The bowling alley at 2001 N.W. Missouri 7 is voluntarily adopting a no smoking policy in all areas of the building, including the Blue Moon Lounge, on June 3, Lunar Bowl general manager Garry Cobb announced in a press release on Wednesday.
The business had been exempt from the no-smoking ordinance that had been passed by the City Council in February 2008 and went into effect in May 2008.
Cobb said the Lunar Bowl owners discussed keeping smoking in the Blue Moon Lounge but decided to make the entire building smoke free.
“Over the past few years, as cities adjoining Blue Springs have issued non-smoking ordinances, more people have an expectation that drinking, dining and entertainment establishments be smoke free. As a family-friendly business, Lunar Bowl has an added responsibility not only to its customers but its employees, 30 percent of whom are in high school,” Cobb said in the statement. “The Lunar Bowl staff believes this will be a positive change for the health of our customers, our employees and our community.”
