  • The Independence Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will hold its annual drug take-back event on Saturday, April 27.
The public is invited to bring unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal to the event, which is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot north of City Hall at 111 E. Maple St.
“This is an opportunity for the public to safely empty out medicine cabinets of drugs that are no longer needed or have expired, including prescription drugs that may contain controlled substances,” Independence detective Terry Storey said in a press release.
Participants will be able to drop off the drugs in a drive-through lane without leaving their cars. There is no cost and no questions will be asked.
Stadium Pharmacy at 4811 S. Arrowhead Drive also will have drop-off boxes inside the business.
For more information, contact Storey at 816-325-7332.
