  • Robert “Bob” Frank Coe, 84, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at home in Chandler, Ariz.
Born July 5, 1928, to Hubert and Vera Coe in Garden City, Mo., he went on to graduate from William Chrisman High School and Rockhurst College. Bob joined the Navy Reserves and then actively served the U.S. Navy from 1951-1953. He met Mary Belle Schock at the beginning of his career with Sears. They married in 1951 and raised two children in Independence, Mo. Bob retired from Sears as a Controller after 38 years. Bob was a member of the Kansas City Masonic East Gate Lodge No. 630. Bob and Mary Belle enjoyed their RV for many years, staying in Colorado and Arizona. Bob was a noble hearted man with the rare strength of honest selflessness; it is what made him easy to love and now makes him greatly missed. His parents preceded him in death, along with two sisters, Veta O’Dell and Rosalie Coe.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Belle; daughter, Janet (Wayne) Hammond of Alvarado, Texas; son James (Kim) Coe of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandsons, Jason Hammond of Chicago, Ill., and Tim (Sarah) Hammond of Belton, Texas; three granddaughters, Valerie Hammond of Nashville, Tenn., and Elizabeth (Bill) Cadaret and Caren Coe of Chandler, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren; and nephew, Robert Epperson of Independence, Mo.
A memorial service will be held May 7 at Valley of the Sun Funeral Home, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, 480-895-9232, www.valleyofthesunfuneralhome.com.
