  • The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department received a Good Turn on April 13 during the Blue Elk District Community Service Day at Wilber Young Disc Golf Park. Scouts from Independence and Blue Springs did trail maintenance during the annual event.
The project was suggested by Parks Superintendent Randy Cooper when he was approached by Community Service Day organizer Kerry Dehaan. DeHaan was pleased with the turnout, felt it was the perfect project for the Scouts, and was grateful for the equipment loaned by Bledsoe Rentals.
The annual event is based on two principles of Scouting, the third point of the Scout Law “a Scout is helpful,” and the Scout Slogan “Do a Good Turn Daily.”
