Lyda “Faye” Miller Rains, 81, Greenwood, Mo., formerly of Windsor, died Sept. 20, 2010, at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville.

Lyda “Faye” Miller Rains, 81, Greenwood, Mo., formerly of Windsor, died Sept. 20, 2010, at Cass Regional Medical Center, Harrisonville.

She was born Oct. 28, 1928 near Fort Lyon to Barton Roy and Ruth (Miller) Miller. On Oct. 29, 1948 she married Don Eldon Rains, formerly of Windsor, who preceded her in death Aug. 5, 2007.

Lyda was a teacher at Dillon School, a one-room school, when she was 19 and then went on to raise her family and later worked at Lee’s Summit High School in the cafeteria where she retired after 31 years. She was long time member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. She liked to cook for family and friends.

She was a special grandma who was “Grammy” to her gandkids. She liked to care for her husband and her home and was known for her sweet disposition and kind heart. She will be missed.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Andy Parker; one infant brother; one adult brother, Wilford Miller; and two sisters, Leota Swearngin and Pauline Longaker.

She is survived by five children, Rick Rains and wife, Judy, Blue Springs, Nancy Parker and husband, Paul, Greenwood, Jantet Ford and husband, Terry, Archie, Cathy Peoples, Bates City, and Lisa Chapman and husband, Steve, Windsor. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Deanna Peoples, Rebekah Hubbard, Dawn Neill and Charli Peoples; two great grandchildren, Evan and Hayden and two on the way; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
