Alberta Louise Hensley, 82, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away on Sept. 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Alberta Louise Hensley, 82, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away on Sept. 20, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.


Alberta was born on October 28, 1927, in Warrensburg, Mo., the daughter of Carl and Leona Narron Baker. She was raised and educated in the Warrensburg area and was united in marriage to Joseph Hensley on October 27, 1951. Alberta had worked for Westinghouse as an assembly worker for a brief time, but had devoted her life to raising her children and being a homemaker.


She was a faithful member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Grain Valley, TOPS, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and had been a Past PTA President of the Grain Valley School and a Past State PTA Secretary. Most recently, she was the caretaker of Perdee Cemetery in Grain Valley, Mo., where she had faithfully served families for 15 years.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Hensley in 1994, and brother, J.R. Baker.


Alberta leaves behind her loving family: sons, Michael Hensley and wife, Susan of Oak Grove, Mo., Joseph Hensley of Independence, Mo.; twin brother, Albert Baker of Warrensburg, Mo.; brother, Buddy Baker of Warrensburg, Mo.; sisters, Mae Taraba of Knob Noster, Mo., Joan Scalf of Grain Valley, Mo.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


Funeral service will be held at Meyers Funeral Chapel at noon Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, with Reverend David Hackett officiating.


The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon, prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Perdee Cemetery.


Due to her involvement with the cemetery, the family suggests memorial contributions to Perdee Cemetery, 5910 S. Minter Road, Grain Valley, Mo.,  64029.
