Betty “Joan” Turner, 80, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away Monday, September 27, 2010, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo.

Betty “Joan” Turner, 80, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away Monday, September 27, 2010, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo.

She was born August 14, 1930, in Grain Valley, the daughter of Felix E. and M. Mildred (Storms) Thompson. She married Ren Turner on August 12, 1948. He survives of the home. Betty was the Postmaster for the United States Postal Service in Grain Valley for many years and was a member of Grain Valley Christian Church.

In addition to her husband, Ren, she is survived by a son, Thomas R. Turner of Grain Valley, Mo., and a daughter, Cathie J. Potter of Wellington, Mo.; a brother, James F. Thompson of Raytown, Mo., and a sister, Janice Butler of Grain Valley, Mo.; four grandsons, five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be 10 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 West Main St. Blue Springs, Mo. 64015 with Rev. Christopher Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
