It didn’t matter that Thursday was the first day this spring the Blue Springs South baseball team had played on an actual field, the Jaguars still managed a sharp performance in a 4-2 win over Rogersville in the Willard Leadoff Tournament.

Reece Eddins gave up only one infield hit, allowed no earned runs and whiffed 10 batters while issuing one walk in five innings on the mound to earn the win after Austin Nordike picked up the save in the seventh. Dallas Herrmann finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a triple and Jacob Clark finished 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

“It was nice to get on a field for the first time,” South coach Ben Baier said. “I thought we played well and obviously got some good work on the mound.”
