The public is invited to attend a celebration of life service Saturday afternoon for Kansas City media icon Walt Bodine.

The service is taking place at 1 p.m. at Unity Temple on The Plaza, 707 W. 47th St., in Kansas City.

Bodine, a well-known newsman and radio and TV personality for 70 years, died Sunday. He was 92.

Just as his wife, Bernie, did upon her death 10 years ago, Walt chose to donate his body to medical science.

Bodine's family says those wishing to make donations in Walt's honor can contribute to the Walt Bodine Scholarship in Communications Studies Endowment Fund or to the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired.
