The Missouri Mavericks have sent goaltender Doug Groenestege to the Arizona Sundogs to fulfill the player to be named later in the trade for Karl Sellan.
Sellan was traded to the Mavericks on Oct. 20 for future considerations and Groenestege completes the trade.
Groenestege, 26, played in 17 games for Missouri and finished with an 8-5-1 record with two shutouts. The Stratford, Ontario native has a 3.42 goals-against average and .887 save percentage in nearly 1,000 minutes played this season.
“We have to give quality to get quality,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said. “Alexandre Vincent has risen to the starting position in net for us, and we will look to replace Groenestege with another quality goaltender.
“We appreciate all Doug did for us. He played some great minutes and we know he’ll have a lot of success with the Sundogs.”

ALL-STAR GAME: Mavericks winger Jeff Christian scored a goal in the Central Hockey League All-Star Game but the CHL All-Stars fell 9-4 to the South Texas All-Stars in Wednesday’s game at Laredo, Texas.
