An Independence woman will likely be charged following a stabbing the day after Christmas.

Police were called to an apartment in the 9400 block of East 23rd Street after someone called to report a disturbance, according to Tom Gentry, police spokesperson.

When police arrived, they found a man outside who said he hadn’t heard anything. Police soon found an apartment with a broken window and traces of blood on the front door.

A neighbor told officers about the disturbance.

Some time later, police were called to the area of Noland Road and College, where officers found the victim, who had been stabbed in the face. She was taken to a hospital.

The victim said the argument had been ongoing. Following  the stabbing, the suspect forced her into a vehicle and drove to the Noland and College area before the suspect ran from the vehicle and across the street.

Police later apprehended the suspect, who will likely be charged with aggravated assault.
