Now, the school district can get off its duff and deal with the former Pitcher Elementary School that has been allowed to sit idle for 10 years. It won’t have to lean on the City Council to allow an out-of-town contractor to build high-density elderly apartments that are not wanted or needed in return for demolishing the old structure.

Oxford Street, just three blocks away, has five four-plex apartment buildings with only a 30 percent occupancy rate and a higher-than-normal crime rate because of the density situation. Just go ahead and tear down the building and we will all be happy.
