Some storytimes require registration, limit attendance, and may have more stringent age requirements; contact the branch for complete information. If you are planning on bringing a group, please call ahead.

Discovery Club
These enrichment classes are open to all our patrons but are designed for children 7-12. Length is generally 30 to 60 minutes and the programs include stories, guest speakers, videos, crafts, and/or other activities.

Preschool
Storytime
10 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays (2-6 years)
Traditional story time for ages 3-5 years offering book related experiences including picture book reading, storytelling, music, puppets, finger plays, short videos and simple crafts. Attending children need to be mature enough to sit by themselves.

Family programs

 Fantastic Frogs – 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7. Discover the fascinating world of amphibians. Learn about frog characteristics, their life cycle and other unique facts. Observe live amphibians up close. (All ages) Registration   is required. K.C. Zoo Presents: The Amazon – 11 a.m, Saturday, Jan. 24.   Join the Kansas City Zoo for an Amazon adventure. We will share Amazon folklore and culture, as well as show you an animal or two. Come with us to learn something new about the Amazon. (Ages 5 and up) Registration   is required.


Teen programs

 Anime Movie Night – 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5. Join us and watch anime (Japanese animation). Goodies provided. (For teens) Registration  is required. Handwriting Bingo – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13.  Improve your relationships with parents, teachers, and siblings through the use of Handwriting Analysis. Even though we are taught to write a certain way we all develop our own script. Graphoanalysis applications are limitless and will be of value to you the rest of your life. In this class you will learn a few of the traits and then match up those traits on your bingo cards to some one else’s writing. (For teens) Registration is required.


Adult programs

 Interior Decorating 101 –  7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22.   Learn basic principles of design including color selection, accessory and furniture placement, concept development and much more. Also, see beautiful before and after photos of creative kids’ rooms. (For adults) Registration is required.

 
Book Club
