  • John M. Hilderbrand was 82 when he passed away November 10, 2012.
He was one of eight children, born November 11, 1929, in Wadesboro, North Carolina, to Forrest and Corrine Hilderbrand. As a young man, John followed work to southern Missouri where he met Margaret Roberts. John and Margaret married in July of 1949. He worked in “line work” and progressed to Journeyman Lineman when he moved his family to Blue Springs in 1953, and became a member of IBEW Local 53. John was well respected in the region as a Lineman, Foreman and Superintendent. He was very active in Local 53 and apprenticed many men through the years. He was very proud of Local 53, its members, and IBEW. John’s passion was his vegetable garden which was always plentiful. He enjoyed sharing both fresh and canned bounty with friends and neighbors.
John is survived by his brother, Adolphus, and his sister Ann. He is also survived by his four sons, Dan, David, Doug and Dennis, and their families, with eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation for John will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Mo., 816-229-3276. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Contributions in memory of John may be made to Plaza Heights Baptist Church.
