Dorothy M. Story Parman, age 91, went to join her Savior on November 24, 2008.

Dorothy was born on February 25, 1917 in Independence, Missouri and was baptized at the age of 8. She was a member of the RLDS church. She was raised on the family orchard farm on East 39th Street. She graduated from Blue Springs High School and was married on November 24, 1936 to Aubry J. Story, to this union was born 4 children, Earline, LaVern, Letha, and Buster. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Upon the death of Aubry, she went to the school of cosmetology and opened a beauty shop in her home. In 1966, she started working at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant where she met Ray Parman, her second husband. This union added six step-children, Ray Jr., Betty, Reva, Curtis, Janet, and Debbie. They retired to their home at the Lake of the Ozarks until 1993. Following Ray’s death, she moved back to Independence, Missouri. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. and Lillian F. Hurshman; brothers, Rex & Eddie; husbands, Aubry J. Story and Ray Parman; step-children, Ray Jr. & Reva; grandchild, Shon D. Walcott; daughter-in-law, Joanne Story.

Dorothy is survived by one brother, Earl Hurshman and wife Bernie of Excelsior Springs, MO; children, Earline & Reuben Walcott, LaVern Zieger, Letha & Dale Newkirk, and Buster Story; step-children, Betty Booger, Curtis Parman, Janet Ambrose, and Debbie Floore, 9 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and three on the way

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 28, at Meyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services to follow. Burial will take place at Blue Springs Cemetery.
