“Sion played good defense and forced a lot of errors,” Lee’s Summit coach Roy Martin said. “We have to play much better tomorrow night against Blue Springs.”

“We played well at different times,” South coach Joe Malaoney said.

ODESSA 26-23-25, OAK GROVE 24-25-17: Host Odessa held on to defeat Oak Grove in a Missouri River Valley Conference West match.

“It was a good match,” Oak Grove coach Ashley Evans said. “It was back and forth. You don’t expect anything less with Odessa.”

Leah Heermann had seven kills and three blocks and Arian Williams 19 digs to lead the Panthers (7-7-1, 0-3). Oak Grove had 62 digs as a team.
