The Tigers (9-0, 6-0) never looked back after scoring a goal in the first minute. Lee’s Summit broke open the game with five second-half goals.

“We played strong the first half,” coach John Grice said of South (4-6, 1-4)  said. “They capitalized on a critical error in the first minute. In the second half we started making some mental mistakes.”

Lee’s Summit was a 3-1 junior varsity winner.

BLUE SPRINGS 2, LIBERTY 1: Two Cody Braden goals, including the game winner with 25 seconds remaining, lifted host Blue Springs (6-4, 2-1) to the Suburban Big Six victory.

“Overall, the  team played well,” Blue Springs coach Mike Palermo said. “Braden came up with a beautiful goal for us at the end. (Keeper) Sean Kennedy came off the bench the last two games and has played well. The whole team did well.”

Tanner Robinson assisted on Braden’s goal when it appeared the teams were headed for overtime.

The junior game resulted in a 1-0 Liberty victory.
