Virginia Clay Huntsman, 89, died in her nursing home with her sons by her side Tuesday, November 23rd.

Virginia Clay Huntsman, 89, died in her nursing home with her sons by her side Tuesday, November 23rd.

Virginia was born July 10, 1921 in Rich Hill, Missouri. She married John Huntsman in 1953. She retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, earning a business degree going to night classes while working full time. She was a founding member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church where she was a volunteer until she went into the nursing home. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, other various clubs and enjoyed several hobbies.

She was survived by her sons, John and Curtis Huntsman, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Huntsman, her parents Curtis and Mary Wears, her sister Carolyn Freeman and brother William Wears.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel, 509 S Noland Rd, Independence with Funeral service to follow Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
