  • The Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving team notched seven first-place finishes on the way to a 3-0 mark in Tuesday’s quad meet at the Blue Springs YMCA.
    The Jaguars topped Pembroke Hill 200-105, bested Marshall 228-72 and handled Liberty 188-121.
    Kayla Canon led the way for South as she bagged first-place times in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 26.77 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:05.38). She also teamed with Kailey Paris, Anna Munoz and Emily Zweerink for a top time of 2:00.43 in the 200 medley relay as the group made the state cut.
    Zweerink also qualified for state and was first in the 50 freestyle, coming in with a time of 25.70 and Paris won the 100 breaststroke (1:18.75). Bre Schlenger tallied 227.75 points for a first-place diving effort and Bailey Barnett won the 500 freestyle in 5:45.30.
