As the temperatures continue cooling off, the Independence Animal Shelter is asking for donations of towels and bedding.

The animals enjoy curling up with a warm blanket or towel, and the shelter is running low, according to its staff. Preferred bedding includes those that don't include stuffing that could be ripped out and ingested. Towels, baby blankets and throws are suggested.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 875 Vista Ave., during normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
