To the editor:

With all the news about the Catholic Church being somewhat negative these days, I want share my wonderful experience about Nativity of Mary Church and School.

In September I became the sole educational provider for my two beautiful granddaughters. If not for the “miracle” of Nativity, I would not have been able to provide for these girls and perhaps they would have wound up in foster care. Instead, Nativity was there for us.

Every day when I take the girls to school I am greeted with a wonderful smile and sent off with “have a wonderful day.” These remarks are so genuine. The girls almost fly into the arms of the teachers who teach them daily. The staff has never made me feel less; they lift me up. They give me verbal praise and always tell me they are there for me. Their motto is “My attitude must be like Christ!” Believe me, their attitude is making Christ very proud. The values and principles my girls have received I pray will create adults who will carry on the message of God’s love and humanity to others.

My girls know they are treasured and valued at Nativity. I know they are cared for, educated, nurtured and loved. I do not have enough positive words in my vocabulary to articulate just how wonderful this church and school have been for me. The priest, principal, teachers and staff exemplify 1 John 4:8 – God is love!
