  • Betty Lou Crowley, 61, of Independence, Mo., passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Research Medical Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
    Betty was born in Independence, Mo., to Ivan and Bernice Goucher on April 11, 1951. She was the 13th of 15 children. Surviving siblings include, Bobby Dale Goucher (Carolyn), Kansas City, Kan., Hazel Conwell, Independence, Arva Carol Snyder, Independence, Pete Goucher (Sherry), Independence, Kenny Wayne Goucher (Peggy), Kansas City, Dennis Lee Goucher (Sue), Independence, and Ronnie Douglas Goucher (Cindy), Independence.
    Betty married Thomas Crowley in 1971. Betty has three children, Mike Crowley (Angela), Sibley, Mo., Jeff Crowley (Jennifer), Sibley, Mo., and Diana Marks (Dan), Independence, Mo.; two stepchildren, Angie Crowley (Vicki), Roeland Park, Kan., and Tom Crowley (Kelly), Gladstone, Mo. She leaves behind many grandkids and great-grandchildren. Her children and her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She will be missed deeply by all and will leave a void in all of our lives.
    Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Crowley, her parents, Bernice and Ivan Goucher, three brothers, four sisters, her son, Mark Emory, and granddaughter, Chelsie Ann.
    A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, with a memorial service following at 7 p.m., at Fairmount Christian Church, 641 S. Ash Ave., Independence.
