Joe A. Kimbell, 79, of Edwards, formerly of Independence, died Monday at Sedalia, Missouri.

 He was a United States Navy veteran. On August 6, 1954, he married Marilyn J. Miller in Kansas City. They lived in Independence where he was a machinist for 47 years working for several businesses including Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, Bendix and Armco. Since 1977, he was self-employed, owning his own machinery business, most recently Kimco where he retired in 1996.

 In June of 2002, they moved to the lake near Edwards, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, building several of their homes and spending time with his grandchildren.

 He was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church until he moved to Edwards and transferred to Colony Baptist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Independence Masonic Lodge 76.

 Surviving is his wife, Marilyn, of the home; two sons, Joseph Charles Kimbell of Edwards and Robert Allen Kimbell and his wife, Shanda; a daughter, Pamela Jo Kimbell all of Independence, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

 Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 31, at Colony Baptist Church near Edwards, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Colony Baptist Church Children & Youth Ministries at 30740 Elk Dr. Edwards, MO 65326. Cremation was under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, 660-438-5151.
