Charles L. Brinkley, 74, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away on March 24, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Charles L. Brinkley, 74, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away on March 24, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Timothy Lutheran Church (425 NW R.D. Mize, Blue Springs, Mo.).

Funeral services conducted by Pastor Francis Lieb will be held at 10 a.m. at the church.  Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Timothy Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Charlie was born on April 1, 1935, in Independence, Mo., the son of the late William T. and Thelma (Breen) Brinkley, II.  He was united in marriage to Shirley (Kinnaman) Brinkley on May 7, 1954. Together they raised two children, Gregg and Cindy.  Charlie was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church.  

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and reading but his true passion was woodworking, of which he was a master.  Charlie loved to tell stories and had a great sense of humor. 

His laughter and smile will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Stechmann.

Charlie leaves behind his wife of nearly 56 years, Shirley of the home; son, Gregg Brinkley & wife, Gilda of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughter, Cindy Westermann & husband, Steve of Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren, Faith, Michelle, Melissa, Valerie, Max; and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Madie, Lilly & Drake.
