The Central Hockey League announced that Missouri Mavericks forward Jeff Christian has won the Oakley Three Star Player of the Year Award for totaling 64 points during the course of the 2009-10 regular season.

Christian tied for the most first star honors during the season with eight. That matched the totals of Colorado’s Ed McGrane and Allen’s Bruce Graham. Christian’s 64 total points were two more than McGrane and six more than Graham. The Burlington, Ontario native finished the season with 29 goals and 49 assists for 78 points.

“The honor is certainly well deserved,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said of Christian, who also has five points in the playoffs. “It’s just awesome that Jeff wins the award because he means so much to our team. I doubt if there are few players in the league who mean as much to their teams as Jeff means to ours.”

Players earn five points for a number one star, three points for a second star nod and one point for being named third star.
