  • Truman’s Roy Bay left Wednesday night’s Suburban Middle Six Conference Track and Field Championships with a pair of titles.
    Bay raced to first-place times of 10.79 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.98 in the 200 to pace the Patriots to a fourth-place finish with 30 points at William Chrisman High School.
    Lee’s Summit West won the team championship with 244 points to top Park Hill South (155), St. Joseph Central (71), Ruskin (29) and Park Hill (25).
    West also bagged the girls championship by racking up 175 points to best Park Hill (99), Ruskin (78), St. Joseph Central (69), Park Hill South (63) and the Patriots (62).
    Cole Rockhold joined Bay as the only other Patriot to win an individual crown by dashing to a time of 9 minutes, 47.59 seconds in the 3,200. The Truman boys also placed first in the 400 relay and third in the 3,200 relay.
    Rockhold added a fourth-place effort in the 800, finishing one spot ahead of teammate Kenyon Briggs, and Alex Overbay (high jump) and John Fiorello (pole vault) registered two more fourth-place tallies.
    The Truman girls recorded a pair of solid relay efforts, coming in second in the 400 meters and third in the 800. Mashala Tolbert produced the top individual performance for the Patriot girls by tying for second in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 1 inches. Davielle Spears took fourth in the shot put and I’Taunna Anderson came in fifth in the 300 hurdles.
