More than 450 new jobs were added in Independence last year, resulting in $17.7 million in new payroll, Mayor Don Reimal said Wednesday.


Reimal presented his 2012 State of the City Address before a sold-out crowd of 140 people at the Independence Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon. Reimal, 70, was first elected to the City Council in 1994. He was elected mayor in 2006 and was re-elected in 2010 after running unopposed.
