Ruth Sims, 85, of Sugar Creek, Mo., passed away, Monday, May 26, 2008 at John Knox Care Center. 

 Anna was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Gallatin, Mo., to Frank and Mary (Mason) Roland. She spent her early life in Gallatin before moving to the Kansas City area. She had worked in the mail order department in quality control for Montgomery Ward from 1965 until she retired in 1986. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and was very devoted to her family. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Fairmont Community Center, Eagles Lodge and the Teamsters local #838. She was married to James Sims in 1945, he preceded her in death in 1995.

 Survivors include; a son, Ron Sims of Grandview, Mo.; two sisters, Ina O. Jones of Gallatin, Mo., and Grace M. Nation of Olathe, Kan.; two grandchildren, Victor Sims of Peculiar, Mo., and Veronica Sims of Joplin, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Sims and Victor James Sims and her companion Gale Miller.

 Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 29, at Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence, 816-252-7900. Donations may be made to Village Care Hospice.
