The new Bass Pro Shops welcomed area Cub Scouts to the Independence store, where they learned about outdoor cooking, archery, target shooting and casting.
The first Cub Scout Day at Bass Pro Shops was held in Independence at the store Saturday morning.
Cub Scouts from the area practiced their skills in archery, fishing, cooking, and in the arcade shooting range.
Excited Scouts rotated between four areas, and received hands-on instruction from the staff at Bass Pro and their Cub Scout leaders.
In the Lessons in Casting area, Kenny Williamson of Pack 438 exclaimed, “I really got a good cast that time.”
Marie Benz, one of the volunteer Scout organizers of the event noted, “Bass Pro has this event so well organized, and has so much staff, that you can’t tell that we have 100 Scouts in here.”
“We’ll be doing this twice a year, and will be adding merit badges for the Boy Scouts soon” said Amy Acock from Bass Pro. “When it was announced, today’s event was filled in five days, and the fall event is already filled” related Blue Elk district director Ross Pfannenstiel.
