John Tullis, 92, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., passed away June 24, 2010, at John Knox Village Care Center.

John Tullis, 92, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., passed away June 24, 2010, at John Knox Village Care Center.

John was born on December 30, 1917, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Norris L. Tullis and Anna M. Brown. John married Wanda L. Foulk on September 2, 1940 in Lamar, Mo. John served in the United States Air Force from 1942 until 1952 when he returned to the Independence area where he worked at Standard Oil in Sugar Creek, until he retired in 1973. John, along with his wife Wanda, retired first to a farm near Buffalo, Mo., followed by San Benito, TX., and finally settling in Lee’s Summit in 2003.

John is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Robert L. Tullis and his brother Edward L. Tullis.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Wanda; sister, Martha Machir, of Raytown; grandson, Brian R. Tullis and wife Leslie; and 2 great grandsons, Cole and Owen Tullis of Blue Springs.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2010 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Breaktime Club at Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs or One Good Meal, PO Box 2222, Lee’s Summit, Mo 64063-2919.
