William A. “Bill” Levitt, 90, Independence, Mo., passed away May 22, 2012.

Bill was born July 24, 1921, in Macklin, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a carpenter and worked for Andes & Roberts Construction Company for many years. He was a member of the Grain Valley Restoration Branch where he served as an Elder. He was a consummate handy-man who also loved baseball and had played guitar and violin in his family’s band in his earlier years.

Bill was preceded in death by brother Alvin Levitt. He is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-seven years, Fay Levitt, of the home; daughter Terry Piatt and husband Garry, Independence, Mo.; granddaughter Tiffany Burkart and husband David, great-grandsons Joseph & Samuel Burkart, all of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; sister Ellen Halvorson, Cowgill, Mo.; brother Norman Levitt and wife Kathleen, Hayter, Alberta, Canada; sister  Jean Cornish, New Surrey, B.C., Canada and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, at Grain Valley Restoration Branch, BB Hwy & Truman Rd., Grain Valley Mo.   In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to K.C. Hospice, 9221 Ward Pkwy.,  Ste. 300, Kansas City, MO 64114.
