Sherman Godsy Jr., 80, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on January 23, 2010.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Sherman was born on April 25, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Sherman Godsy Sr. and Dorothy Thompson. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War as a heavy equipment operator. He was united in marriage to DeoLita (Daño) on February 18, 1994. Sherman owned and operated many businesses in Kansas City, Mo., including Jacomo Waterslides, and his favorite, Mirror Lakes at 40 & 291. Sherman was an extremely hard worker and could out-work four men. Later in life, he enjoyed being an over-the-road truck driver for OIX, Inc. and Cartwright Van Lines. Sherman took pride in keeping his semi clean and ready to go.

He leaves behind his wife, Juliet of the home; daughter, Joy Godsy of the home; son, Gary Godsy of Independence, Mo.; step-son, Jim Tribble of Oak Grove, Mo.; granddaughter, Nicole (Godsy) Clark of Independence, Mo.
