Independence police are looking for a 20-year-old man suspected in a series of break-ins at area Kmart stores.

Police are zeroing in on Zachary A. Irwin, of Independence. They called him a “person of interest” in at least three Kmart store burglaries. The burglarized stores included two Kmarts in Independence and another on Barry Road in Kansas City.

Irwin is known to frequent the area of the 500 block of Dover Drive in Independence. He has been driving a black 1996 Acura SLX with Missouri license plate of CD4-S8F.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant on Dec. 28 after he failed to appear for a scheduled arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license, according to court records. That offense took place in Bates County last August.

If anyone has information about where Zachary A. Irwin is at or the Kmart burglaries, call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS or the Independence police investigations division at 816-325-7330.
