The Independence Health Department has a free H1N1 flu clinic scheduled for next week.

The clinic is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the health department, 515 S. Liberty. In addition, clinics will be held at three other schools in December.

The health department is working with three schools to distribute the vaccine to the general public in addition to school staff and students and their parents.

H1N1 Flu clinics, which are also free, will be:

■ 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at Osage Trail Middle School, 2101 N. Twyman Road.

■ 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at Pioneer Ridge School, 1656 S. Speck Road.

■ 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Nativity of Mary School, 10021 E. 36th Terrace South.

All of the clinics will offer free FluMist nasal spray or injectable vaccine and are open to residents who meet the following criteria – pregnant women, children/young adults ages two to 24 years, health care workers, caregivers of children younger than six months and persons 25 to 64-years with chronic health conditions.

In addition, the H1N1 vaccine has been distributed to participating family practice, internal medicine, OB/GYN and pediatric offices in Independence so residents are also encouraged to contact their physicians for vaccine availability.

Future clinic dates are based on vaccine availability.
