Devan Fairfield scored both goals on assists from Nathalia Barr and Reighan Childers, enabling the Eagles to stun Notre Dame de Sion 2-1 Thursday night.

“We scored two early goals and had to hang on the whole game to win in the end,” Grain Valley coach Aleana Balistreri said. “This was probably the most exciting game we have played all year, especially knowing our history with Sion.”
Grain Valley (9-4) plays in the championship at 6 tonight.

ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 1, TRUMAN 0: Alexa Franks’ unassisted goal in the 44th minute was enough for host Central to post the Suburban Middle Six victory.

Truman (1-10, 1-5) was held to one shot on goal.

The Patriots were coming off a 9-0 loss to Park Hill South on Tuesday. Courtney Claassen scored four goals as the Panthers outshot the Patriots 23-1.

VAN HORN 3, CRISTO REY 0: Hannah Bishop scored two goals and Cathy Allen had one and goalkeeper Melanie Krogman made four saves for the shutout to lead Van Horn (8-6) past visiting Cristo Rey Thursday.

“We played well,” Van Horn coach Taisha Newcomer. “We’re tired but we’re plugging through.”

The Falcons fell 4-1 to Summit Christian Academy Wednesday in a Crossroads Conference match. Allen scored the loan goal for Van Horn (2-3 league).

STALEY 5, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: Staley moved another victory closer to the Suburban Middle Seven title by blanking the visiting Bears.

Staley is 7-0 in the conference. Chrisman dropped to 5-9 and 2-6.

Chrisman also fell 1-0 to Winnetonka on Tuesday. Breanna Roberts scored in the 79th minute to lift the Griffins.

KEARNEY 2, BLUE SPRINGS 0: The Wildcats (5-4) fell to the Bulldogs on Wednesday one night after falling 2-1 to Lee's Summit North in penalty kicks.
