  • The Fort Osage baseball team remained undefeated in Suburban Middle Seven Conference play Thursday.
Winner Derek Pike and Luke Crabb combined to allow seven hits and strike out eight as the Indians prevailed 5-2 over visiting Oak Park Thursday.
“Derek pitched a gutsy game against a good hitting team,” Fort Osage coach Chris Walker said. “We played great defense and Crabb did a good job coming in to get the save."
Fort Osage (9-4, 7-0) scored all of its runs in the first three innings. Chad Sutton, Aaron Alter, Trevor Jeffries and Darby Raines each had hits.
GRAIN VALLEY 5, HARRISONVILLE 0: Zach Zurbrick pitched and batted Grain Valley to the Missouri River Valley Conference West victory Thursday.
He allowed only two hits and struck out 12 and singled and hit a three-run double with four RBIs to lead the Eagles (8-9, 4-2).
“We executed early for a 2-0 lead and Zach added a big, two-out hit late for more cushion,” Grain Valley coach Mark Lyford. “He threw extremely well.”
