  • Blue Springs South celebrated Senior Night in high style by defeating Lee’s Summit North 9-0 Thursday night.
    Alec Barber (10-7), Brent Henderson (10-0), Lake Kinzel (10-1), Jon Hower (11-10, 7-1), Jared Martin (10-1) and Nick Mandina (10-7) were singles winners. The doubles teams of Paul Province and Barber (10-4), Jose Garchitorena and Kinzel (11-10, 7-0) and Henderson and Hower (10-4) were the doubles winners for South (10-1, 3-0 Suburban Big Six).
    “It was a great night,” coach Sheri Rehmer said. “It was a great Senior Night. All of the four seniors got to play.”
    North posted a 6-3 junior varsity victory.
    BLUE SPRINGS 7, LEE’S SUMMIT 2: Five singles victories lifted host Blue Springs to the Suburban Big Six victory Thursday.
    Chad Stohlman (6-3, 6-1), Sam Phillips (5-7, 6-3, 10-7), Caleb Boyd (6-3, 6-4), Brice Webb (6-3, 6-2 and Greg Evans (6-4, 6-3) triumphed in singles. Doubles winners were the teams of Stohlman and Boyd (10-4) and Webb and Evans 10-4).
    “It was a big win for us,” Blue Springs coach Jody McClain said. “Stohlman played No. 5 last year and it has been tough for him playing in the No. 1 spot. He played well.”
    Blue Springs posted an 8-1 junior varsity victory.
