Columbia College
Though based in Columbia, Mo., Columbia College also has a branch in Kansas City. Offering 500 online classes and 19 online degrees as well as on campus classes and degrees, Columbia College is especially geared toward working adults and military personnel who wish to gain degrees in business administration, criminal justice, fire service, history, and psychology.
Associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees are all available through the college.

Graceland University
As well as having campuses both in Lamoni, Iowa, and in Independence, Graceland University offers programs at several satellite locations in Iowa and Missouri and online.
About 1,200 undergraduate students attend classes at the 170-acre Lamoni campus. These students have a choice of an array of more than 60 academic programs. Class sizes are kept small, with an average of 25 students per classroom.
The Independence campus is home to Graceland’s School of Nursing and Global Campus. Some courses of study, such as nursing and education, require that a student have formerly completed two years of general education requirements at a community college. Students may also receive a bachelor of arts degree in business administration through Graceland by taking classes offered at Metropolitcan Community Colleges – Blue River.

National American University
National American University offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in the core disciplines through its 16 campuses nationwide.
Three of these campuses are in the Kansas City area, and one is in Independence. Here, students can fit further education into their schedules by choosing from classes offered at a variety of times during the day and night.
NAU’s newest campus at Zona Rosa houses both nursing and pharmacy technician programs. Those unable to attend classes on an NAU campus can opt for taking online courses in order to complete their degrees.

Park University
Park University, began as a single campus in Parkville, Mo., and has extended to include 43 campus centers. One of these campuses is in Independence. 
The Independence campus features accelerated degree programs which serve both traditional and non-traditional students. Classes are offered during the day, evenings, and on weekends.
