Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered American and Missouri flags flown at half-staff Tuesday at all state buildings in honor of a solder killed in Afghanistan.


Army Cpl. Jacob R. Carver, 20, of Freeman, Mo., serving in the 101st Airborne Division in the Kandahar Province, died Nov. 13 when a suicide bomber detonated a vest bomb and struck Carver’s unit. Among the awards and decorations Carver had won were the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
