  • The Blue Springs girls swimming and diving team got some state berths out of the way during its season opener Saturday.
    Ashley Sturman, Corinne Rinne and Mariah Hagerty each earned individual state berths and the 200-yard medley relay squad punched its ticket in a 229-86 win over Liberty North at the Centennial Pool-Plex.
    Hagerty totaled 211.10 points to surpass the 210-point standard to win the 1-meter diving. Sturman, who also won the 200 freestyle, finished the 100 butterfly in 1 minute, 2.66 seconds to win and qualify. Rinne, who also won the 200 individual medley, blazed to a win in 1:12.20 in the 100 breaststroke to qualify.
    The 200 medley relay team won and qualified with a time of 1:58.84.
    Lindsey Meyer won the 100 freestyle (59.34) and 100 backstroke (1:06.99), Liz Oles took first in the 500 freestyle (5:48.83) and Angela Anderson prevailed in the 50 freestyle (28.47). The Wildcats also swept the 200 (1:53.01) and 400 (4:06.54) freestyle relays to take first in all 12 events.
