  • Jared Lavender, a defenseman who played the first two seasons with the Missouri Mavericks, is back with the CHL team and will play in tonight's game at Wichita.
“It's great to have Jared back,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said during the bus ride to Wichita. “Jared is on the bus and will play tonight.”
“He's a nuts-and-bolts guy who is willing to do anything to help the team win. Having just completed one of our busiest months in team history and as we work through the injuries, Jared will add experience and depth to our blue line.
“We know he will come in here with the intention of winning a permanent spot on our roster.”
Lavender will bolster a Mavericks defensive unit that has been depleted by injuries and sickness.
“We are missing one defender with the flu and we had to move Blake (Forsyth, lower body injury) to the 30-day IR list,” Hillman said, “so we needed someone and Jared is the perfect fit.
The Cleveland Heights, Ohio-native played his first two pro seasons with the Mavericks. In 94 total games with Missouri, the 5-foot-11, 188-pound defenseman had 17 points, 73 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.
Lavender played last season with the CHL's Quad City Mallards where he accounted for 19 points in 60 games played.
This season he has played for Quad City and the ECHL's Evansville IceMen.
