The A’s defeated host Oak Grove Post 379 7-0 and 4-0 Saturday night and followed with 10-0 and 11-0 victories over Excelsior Springs Post 236 Sunday in Zone 2 East games at Hidden Valley Park.


The A’s improved to 16-2 in the zone and 23-10 overall while extending their winning streak to 13 games. The last six wins have all been shutouts.


“It was a great weekend,” A’s manager Mike Rooney said. “When you win four games, you have to be happy.”


Spencer Schwandt pitched the first game win over Oak Grove.


Alex Duvall singled three times with two RBIs and Matt Morrison singled twice and scored two runs.


Tyler Johnson suffered the loss for Oak Grove.


Corbin Hare followed by throwing a four-hitter in the second game, striking out six. Morrison singled twice with two RBIs.


Lucas Williams took the loss for Oak Grove, which dropped to 14-16 and 4-8.


Duvall was the winning pitcher on a five-inning one-hitter and six strikeouts in the first game against Excelsior Springs. David Stober singled and doubled, Tyler Barth and Hare each singled twice and James McKinley had three singles.


Matt Varley’s first start for the A’s was a three-hit, second-game shutout over Excelsior Springs. Kyle Roberts singled and doubled and Cole Payne singled twice with three RBIs.
