An informal but informational breakfast was held by the Blue Springs Economic Development Corporation Wednesday morning.

Lisa Franklin, chairperson of the EDC, said the event, called Good Morning Blue Springs, was the first of its kind and meant to allow investors to voice their feelings and ideas for the city.

“It was a good session,” Franklin said of the event, which was created after the board of directors and officers suggested its creation.

Franklin, current manager of economic development for Kansas City Power & Light, started serving as chair about two months ago.

About 20 investors and other guests attended the Wednesday morning meeting.

“It was a chance for the EDC and investors to get to know each other a little better,” Franklin said. “In these times, as Blue Springs continues to build, it’s important to get as much input as possible.”

The EDC continues to serve as a kind of business ambassador for the city, and Franklin said the city is still searching for amenities like office, warehouse and distribution centers.

“It’s an exciting time in the city,” she said.

The Wednesday meeting was one of several formal and informal gatherings scheduled for the remainder of the year. On Aug. 28, a membership business meeting will be held; and in October, an investor networking event will be held at a location to be determined.
