Several local golfers finished in the top half of the Kansas City Golf Association’s Mid Amateur Senior Team Challenge Thursday and Friday at the par-72 Stone Canyon Golf Club in Blue Springs.

Several local golfers finished in the top half of the Kansas City Golf Association’s Mid Amateur Senior Team Challenge Thursday and Friday at the par-72 Stone Canyon Golf Club in Blue Springs.
Grain Valley’s Jamie Schmitt and his partner, Andy Smith, tied for fifth place with Raytown’s Steve Groom and his partner, Sam Allegri. Schmitt and Smith shot a combined 149 on Friday to go with an opening-round 69 in the four-ball format for a 218 total. Groom and Allegri shot a 146, the day’s second-best score, after shooting 72 on Thursday.
Steve Bush of Blue Springs and Kris Casburn, a Blue Springs High School graduate who now lives in Lee’s Summit, tied for 12th at 224. Bush and Casburn shot a combined 152 on Friday to go with Thursday’s 72.
Ryan Barauskas and Thomas Leonard claimed first place with a 215 total, shooting 149 Friday after an opening-round 66.
