Marlan and Margaret Heide of Independencce will celebrate their 50th anniversary June 1.

Marlan J. and Margaret (Elliott) Heide of Independence will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary June 1, with a service starting at 3 p.m., with a reception following at New Hope Congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 220 W. Moore, Independence.


Hosts for the event will be their children and spouses, Marina Zaring and husband, Doug, of Effingham, Ill., and Morris Heide and wife, Julie, of Independence. Mr. and Mrs. Heide also have six grandchildren.


They were married June 1, 1958, at Lamoni, Iowa. They lived in Ames, Iowa, before Mr. Heide entered military service in 1961, and upon his discharge in 1965, they moved to Independence.


Marlan is a retired machinist from the Armco Steel Corp. and GST Steel Co. They are lifelong members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attend New Hope Congregation, where Mr. Heide serves as an elder.
