  • Families, friends, and teams from throughout the Kansas City area are part of a new event coming to the downtown Wheeler Airport, 300 N.W. Richards Road, Saturday.
Hundreds of participants will enjoy the festival atmosphere at ‘Walk for Change’ while they help Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph reduce poverty in our community, one step at a time.
The walk begins at 8 a.m. after a group stretch and introductions by event emcee and award-winning local television reporter Maria Antonia. Participants may choose a 1 mile, 2 mile or 3 mile course. Along the way, they will enjoy scenic views of the downtown skyline with a variety of fun activities waiting at the finish line. Kansas City Chiefs mascot, KC Wolf, Royals mascot, Sluggerrr, and T-Bones mascot, Sizzle, will entertain the crowds. Children can visit the Kansas City Zoomobile. All walkers will enjoy refreshments, specialty coffee drinks, continental breakfast, and the chance to win prizes from Best Buy and Panera.
This event is sponsored by the Kansas City Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund, Community America Credit Union, Schier Products, and Sioux Chief Manufacturing. Pledges and donations directly support agency programs that assist people of all faiths in times of need.
