  • The Missouri Mavericks announced Wednesday that the Central Hockey League team has signed forwards Tyler Fletcher and Brandon Smith.
“These two players come in knowing their role and will give our team a needed injection of energy and physicality,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said. “We have been playing harder as of late, but we are not yet at the level I expect.
“As we attempt to climb the ladder in the Central Hockey League, these are the exact style of players we need right now. Hopefully our guys will take note of the energy they bring to the ice.”
Fletcher, 26, has played most of this season with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Knoxville Ice Bears. The Calgary, Alberta native had five points on one goal and four assists with the Ice Bears, and he played in one game with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones.
Smith, 25, is also in his second professional season after playing his rookie season with the CHL’s Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. In his rookie season, the Pepper Pike, Ohio native had 13 points on three goals and 10 assists in 55 games played.
The Mavericks currently have four players on the injured reserve list: Cole Ruwe, Kris Hogg, Vern Cooper and Nathan O’Nabigon.
