MAY 30: Family Fishing – 9-11 a.m. for families with children ages 5 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area fishing pond in Blue Springs. Learn about the basics of fishing. MAY 30: Tree Identification – 9-11 a.m. for adults ages 18 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Join Urban Forester Chuck Conner as he helps you unlock the secrets of tree identification. Deadline to register is May 22. Please call 816-228-3766 to register.
MAY 30: Mammal Hike – 1-2:30 p.m. for families with children ages 8 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Join a naturalist for a local hike on Burr Oak Woods to search for signs of mammals while looking for tracks and scats. Please call 816-228-3766 to register.
MAY 31: Critters in Your Yard – 1-2 p.m. for families with children ages 5 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Learn about animals that live in or visit your own back yard. No registration required. Please call 816-228-3766 for more information.

JUNE 6: Turkey Vultures – 2-3 p.m. for all ages at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Take an up-close look at a real turkey vulture.Susan Bray of Lakeside Nature Center will bring in one of its resident turkey vultures. Then take a short hike to look for these birds in action. JUNE 9 & 10: Family Fishing – 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day for families of all ages at Prairie Hollow Lake in the James A. Reed Wildlife Area. Learn basic fishing skills. Equipment and worms are provided. JUNE 13: Discovery Center’s Greatest Hits – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for all ages at Amita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center in Kansas City (4750 Troost). JUNE 13: Making Tracks – 10 a.m. to noon for families with children ages 9 and older at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Go in search of wild animal tracks and create plaster molds that will capture their foot prints. Paint or decorate them any way you would like and turn them into magnets for your refrigerator. Gain a better understanding of how animal tracks may offer clues into the life histories of wildlife species common to our area. Please call 816-228-3766 to register.
JUNE 17: Birding: Birding for All – 8:30-10 a.m. for all ages at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. Program about birding for beginners or experts. This group will hike an easy but popular trail near the nature center. Please call 816-228-3766 to register.
JUNE 20: Wild Ones: Little Blue Trace Wild Edibles Hike – 9-11:30 a.m. for adults ages 18 and older at Little Blue Trace Trail. JULY 11: Missouri Department of Conservation Hunter Education Class – 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lake City Range and Training Center near Blue Springs. Jake Jacoby is the instructor. Students must be age 11 or older. Pre-register by calling 816-229-4448.

JULY 29-30: Missouri Department of Conservation Bow Hunter Education Class – 5:30-9:30 p.m. each day at Parma Woods Shooting Range in Parkville. The Parma Woods staff will instruct this class for bow hunters only. Students must be age 11 or older. Pre-register by calling 816-891-9941. Students must attend both sessions to qualify.
