Gustave Joseph Camerlynck, 86, of Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at his home.

Gustave Joseph Camerlynck, 86, of Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at his home.


A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. A procession and graveside will then take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.


Gustave was born November 2, 1925, in Independence, Mo., to Phillip and Augusta Camerlynck. He was a life member of the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post; VFW Post No. 3976 in Sugar Creek; as well as a 60 year member of the Greater Kansas City Laborers International Union, Local No. 1290. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva A. Camerlynck; and eleven brothers and sisters.


Gus is survived by one son, Phillip Camerlynck Sr. and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Sherie and Rick Hendren, Tammy and Michael Summers, Phillip Jr. and Amy Camerlynck; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Gustave and Garth Hendren, Jessica and Shayne Henre, Elizabeth Hancock and Candra, Phillip, Collin and Elaina Camerlynck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. All of his family resides in Independence, Mo.
