To the editor:
I have always deeply respected firefighters because they bravely and unselfishly risk their lives daily in order to save the lives of others.
This last weekend, I observed a large crowd of “Firefighters for Claire McCaskill” rallying downtown at the Marriott-Muelhebach Hotel. I found it profoundly sad and ironic that this group of valiant “life-savers” would choose to support a candidate who voted for a health-care law that will provide government funding for health plans that pay for the destruction of innocent human life through abortion.
Claire McCaskill also voted to provide federal funds to the largest abortion provider in the United States, Planned Parenthood, and voted to kill the Blunt Amendment, which would have exempted institutions or individuals from providing health coverage for services that violate their religious or moral convictions.
If you are a Kansas City area firefighter supporting Claire McCaskill’s campaign, I must humbly ask you, is this really the candidate who best represents your “life-saving” values?
